3rd Southern Rider Virtual Rally - 2010

From Saturday, August 07 2010 - 6:00pm to Sunday, August 08 2010 - 3:00am.

Well its on again, has been a blast the last 2 online rallies. Not to be confused with the actual rally we just had.

So what is a virtual rally?
Simply put, you go for a ride during the day, you then compile a bit of a write up in the forums. Later that night you go get your drinks and get into the chat room and talk utter crap to each (just like you do at a real rally)

Autospectacular 2010

Well we believe the Autospectular 2010 was a success and hopefully will raise the profile of Southern Rider a bit more. We had interest in both who we were as well as the Escapapde & for the Thursday evening rides. I also spoke to the guys at the OMCC about the Ride Right Otago, that we would like to get Southern Rider in behind that as well promoting safety. They seemed interested in that it would be benefit all.

We have a few ideas for next year already... Read more here.

Autospectacular 2010

The Sunnyvale Contracting Autospectacular is on Saturday, July 3rd 2010, at the Edgar Centre, corner of Portsmouth Drive and Midland Streets, Dunedin. This is an indoor heated venue with all facilities. The show runs from 9am to 4pm and features spectacular vehicle displays, swap meet trade sites, door prize and family fun competitions. The theme for club displays is Four Seasons and we celebrate 50 years of Ford Falcon. This year's selected charity is DARE who will mount a thought -provoking display in association with the Police and Road Safety. The three other organizing clubs are Otago Falcon & Fairlane Club, Otago Mini Owners Club and the North Otago Branch of the Vintage Car Club.

Hopefully Southern Rider will be having a stall with a few bikes on show... come and say hi... Read the thread here.

Brass Monkey 2010

Those going to the Brass Monkey this year please take it easy. There are reports of lots of grit on the pig route. Also remember to watch yah speed as the boys in blue are out in force this weekend and have lowered the tollerance to 4 kph in stead of the standard 8-10kph. Either way have fun and we will see the reports and photo's online on Monday. Have a great weekend.

Organising the Southern Rider Escapade 2010

The 2nd Southern Rider Escapade 2010
The idea will be the same as last year, ride the route to get the answers to the questions, send in your answers and your badge will be sent out to you. Those that did it last year will know what its all about and I hope you spread the word to your other biker friends. Those that don't know what its about ask some one that did it last year... By successfully touring the “Escapade” Route laid out...

Southern Rider Rally Report

Southern Rider Rally 2010

Southern Rider Rally BadgeWell what can I say? The Southern Rider crew are a care free bunch of great people with big friendly hearts. The rally was for members of www.southernrider.co.nz only. I was lucky enough to get an invite as a secret squirrel reporter for this rally.

Nighthawk had told me that Jantar was a glider instructor, and that he had organised some glider flights for the Saturday. From that I could see that this wasn't going to be any ordinary rally.

Portal Home
The new portal is the official home page of Southern Rider. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will add to the code to get the gallery images to work... (if I can work out why the orginal code wasn't working...)

Rally Rallies Really
Well the Off the Rails Rally is over, we now have the Southern Rider Rally in 2 weeks time. Some idea's of the badge designs are still wanted and we were going to have a competition, but it seems that nobody else wants to enter. I have put up a few ideas myself, but it would be cool if some other ideas came to light as well. Just remember the Gliding is weather dependant and we are limited on the number of flights we can do. If there are more people wanting flights than can be done, I will relinquish my flight so that some one else can have a go, since I did organise it for you guys...Please if you have not registered in the thread and are wanting to come along please let us know for numbers.

Portal
The Portal is nearly finished and has been recoded and is more modular which helps with the various themes and templates (nothing you have to worry about). We hope to make it the home page of Southern Rider soon.

Off the Rails
The 15th annual "Off the Rails Rally." 10th April - 11th April. Held in Middlemarch. $25 prepay (includes badge) $30 gate sales $5 donation per entry goes to the Haast Volunteer Rescue. Booze and Food Prices are usually pretty good.

  • Licensed booth & On site food stalls, great band and entertainment.
  • Camping areas and porta loos. Gates locked at 1030pm.

Hope to see you all there...
